Waste management is not only about collection and cleaning; it also requires awareness, correct separation practices, responsible consumption habits, and cooperation with local stakeholders. Volunteers can play an important role in addressing the waste problem by supporting awareness-raising activities, encouraging behavioural change, and contributing to more effective waste management practices in their communities.

Emrah Bilge, General Manager of Çöpüne Sahip Çık Foundation, will discuss the relationship between production, consumption, and waste generation, with a focus on the role and responsibilities of volunteers within waste management systems.

The webinar will explore how current consumption culture contributes to the waste problem, how waste management systems function, and how volunteers can support awareness, correct separation, and community mobilisation. Through different examples of practice, the webinar will also explain how volunteering programmes can be transformed into sustainable environmental impact.
