Volunteering in the field of children requires more than good intentions; it requires acting within a strong ethical framework. A rights-based approach places the best interests of the child at the centre and helps ensure that volunteer activities are responsible, safe, and sustainable. Hayat Sende Association offers an important point of reference for how this approach should be applied by everyone working voluntarily in the field of children.

Rumeysa Bozdemir, General Coordinator of Hayat Sende Association, will explain why rights-based work is essential in child-focused volunteering, which principles should guide volunteer practice, and how rights-based behaviour can be applied in the field. The session will also address the key questions volunteers should ask themselves before working with children, as well as the risks and ethical considerations that must be taken into account.

This webinar offers a valuable learning opportunity for anyone who wants to protect children’s rights, create safe spaces, and develop an ethically grounded volunteering model.

The webinar will be held as part of the International Volunteer Day activities, organised by the National Volunteering Committee (UGK) via the ILA Talks mobile application.

The event is free of charge, and participants will receive Turkish-English certificates of participation at the end of the session.
