National Tree Day was celebrated in all municipalities of Togo on June 1.

To mark the International Volunteer Year 2026, the Citizen Engagement Volunteers (VEC) actively took part in National Tree Day, once again showing their commitment to protecting the environment.

Alongside government, administrative, and local authorities, the volunteers helped plant 87,051 trees of different species, including eucalyptus, neem, acacia, and teak, across municipalities throughout the country.

Through this community action, the volunteers are helping to protect land ecosystems, in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, "Life on Land." They are also contributing to the fight against climate change and deforestation.
