The Award Ceremony of the 3rd Competition “Student Ideas and Projects on Volunteering”, that promotes the values of volunteerism in educational institutions, took place on Tuesday 9/6/2026, at the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus.
The award ceremony was attended by representatives of the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council, the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, the Acting Director of Secondary General Education, volunteers, students, parents, and educators.
During her address, the Minister Dr. Athena Michaelidou, highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to the International Year of Volunteers and referred to a number of related initiatives and activities being implemented by the Ministry.
In his remarks, Mr. Elias Demetriou, President of the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council, expressed his appreciation for the students’ participation in the competition. Stressing the important of the International Year of Volunteers, Mr Demetriou noted that the strong response from young people demonstrates their values, social awareness, and sensitivity towards addressing societal needs, while contributing to the development of more resilient and caring communities.
Awards were presented to the winners in the three competition categories: 

(1) Poster,

(2) Newspaper/Magazine Article, 

and (3) Promotional Spot. 

The awards included symbolic gifts and information cards on the International Year of Volunteers
