Emotional Intelligence through the WeFEEL Approach

Young children develop emotional intelligence through everyday interactions that help them recognise, express and regulate their feelings. Consistent support across home and educational settings gives children opportunities to develop emotional awareness, empathy and self-regulation through play, conversations and daily routines.

Dr. Daniela Fenu Foerch from Florida International University will introduce the WeFEEL Approach as a framework for supporting young children’s emotional development through intentional interactions and collaboration between educators and families. She will explore practical ways to embed emotional learning in everyday experiences and involve families as active partners.

The webinar will examine strategies for putting WeFEEL into practice through classroom routines, play-based activities, guided conversations and family interactions. Particular attention will be given to establishing shared approaches between home and educational settings, enabling children to practise emotional skills consistently across different environments.

We invite early childhood educators, families, psychologists, students in education programmes and everyone interested in supporting young children’s emotional development to join the webinar.

The webinar is being organised within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
