As part of Mission 5642, an environmental awareness and sustainable development activity was conducted with students of Classes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 at a government school in Haryana, India.

For students of Classes 6 to 8, an interactive exercise was conducted to help them understand how the Earth is the source of everything we have and how our lives depend on the natural environment and its resources.

For the senior classes, the session focused on sustainable development and the importance of protecting the environment.

Two key ideas were emphasized across all the classes:

1. The power of small habits - Students were encouraged to understand that small, environmentally responsible habits practiced by individuals can create a significant cumulative impact when adopted by many people.

2. Understanding “Why”, not just “What” - The students already knew many of the things they should do for the environment. The session focused on helping them understand why these actions matter. The aim was to create deeper understanding and genuine motivation for environmental action rather than simply following instructions.

One practical action discussed with the students was avoiding tearing wrappers into small pieces. Such pieces can enter water bodies and may be consumed by animals. Students were encouraged to remind and check one another so that wrappers are kept intact and disposed of responsibly.

The activity marked the first contribution as part of Mission 5642. It was an effort to encourage students to connect everyday habits with their larger impact on the environment and to inspire continued environmental responsibility.

The work will continue through further activities focused on environmental awareness, sustainable development and meaningful community action.
