Experiential Learning in Volunteering Programs
Can volunteering be transformed into a meaningful learning experience? Volunteering activities are not only spaces for social contribution, but can also become powerful environments where individuals learn actively through experience.
With its approach that structures volunteering around cognitive, affective, and skills-based learning outcomes, the Experiential Training Center Association (DEM) develops pioneering models in this field. Within the framework of the association’s work, Mustafa Erdoğan, Chair of the Board, and Dr. Nisa Akın, Trainer, will provide a comprehensive perspective on how the experiential learning approach can be designed and integrated into volunteering programmes.
Throughout the webinar, participants will explore how volunteer roles can be structured around learning outcomes, how learning can be deepened in practice through reflection sessions, learning journals, and feedback loops, and how these experiences can be documented through micro-credentials. The session will also introduce examples from different countries that demonstrate how volunteering can be transformed into a systematic learning process.
This webinar offers a valuable guide for organisations, trainers, and volunteers who want to make volunteering programmes more meaningful, measurable, and learning-oriented. Reserve your place now to join.
The webinar will be held via the ILA Talks mobile application as part of the International Year of Volunteers activities. The event is free of charge, and participants will receive Turkish-English certificates of participation at the end of the session.
