Volunteering becomes more visible, stronger, and more sustainable when it is supported by freedom of association and field-based data. Accurately analysing the needs of volunteers, identifying the capacity limits of institutions, and integrating this evidence into policy development processes are all critical to building a healthy and effective volunteering ecosystem.
The Association of Civil Society Development Center (STGM) is an important reference point through its work on strengthening civil society and supporting data-driven capacity development. Murat Özçelebi, Deputy General Coordinator of STGM, and Çağlar Yenilmez, Technical Support Specialist, will discuss the structural barriers faced by volunteers, the support needs of organisations, and how institutional responses can be developed based on findings from field research and survey data.

The webinar will also explore data-driven volunteer policy development processes, legal and administrative frameworks for protecting freedom of association, and examples of good practice from different regions through a holistic perspective. This event is open to everyone who wants to make volunteering efforts more systematic, effective, and sustainable.
The event will be held as an online webinar within the framework of the 2026 International Year of Volunteers. It is open to everyone and completely free of charge, including a certificate of participation.
