For preschool children, a work of art can provide a space for emotional engagement, reflection, and personal creative expression. Understanding how children perceive a work’s content and form, its imagery, and its means of artistic expression is essential to ensuring that encounters with art support their aesthetic development.

Kateryna Demchyk, PhD in Education, of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University will explore how to introduce preschool children to works of visual art in ways that take into account the characteristics of children’s perception and their responses to what they see.

The webinar will address how preschool children are introduced to works of art, how they perceive and respond to their content and form, and how works of visual art can provide a basis for children’s artistic and creative activity. Particular attention will be given to the transition from perceiving and interpreting artistic images to children’s independent artistic expression.
