Inclusive Accessible Volunteer Services in Dalian
On May 19, VOW Center successfully launched an accessible volunteer service charity market in Dalian, integrating the theme of China National Disability Assistance Day with the initiatives of the 2026 International Year of Volunteers. The event attracted over 500 persons with disabilities, championing the development philosophy of “equality, inclusion and shared benefits” for integrated development of people with and without disabilities.
In strict accordance with the Guidelines for Inclusive and Accessible Services of the 2026 International Year of Volunteers, the event delivered a full range of supporting services, including public area accessibility adaptation, medical support, emergency disposal, volunteer guidance and sign language interpretation. The compliance rate of accessible services exceeded 80%, which effectively optimized the participation experience of persons with disabilities and fully safeguarded their right of participation.
The charity market comprises a charity sales zone, a professional service zone, an interactive experience zone, and a sub-venue at the International Year of Volunteers Volunteer Service Block, featuring complete functional layout and diversified service dimensions.
The charity sales zone exhibited and sold handicrafts and baked goods created by trainees from disability-supported employment bases, as well as groups with intellectual disabilities and autism. Every work embodies the perseverance and efforts of special groups, demonstrating the power of life.
Targeting the actual needs of persons with disabilities, the professional service zone provided precise and specialized support services covering legal consultation, psychological counseling, free health clinics, emergency first aid and wheelchair and assistive device maintenance.
Characteristic interactive programs including dart experience, guide dog interaction and trial experience of new accessible assistive devices have built a communication bridge for the public, effectively enhancing public awareness and inclusiveness of special groups.
At the sub-venue of the volunteer service block, citizens and children with disabilities participated in handcraft creation experiences together. The warm interactions conveyed the warmth of life and interpreted the beautiful connotation of inclusive integration of all people.
