As part of the International Volunteer Year 2026, the Talentum Foundation organised
sessions for five different groups of 11th-grade vocational students at the Móraváros
Technical and Vocational School in Szeged to explore how volunteering can connect to the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the programme, students explored how volunteering can contribute to achieving
global goals through simple, practical actions in their everyday lives and local communities.
The students explored different Sustainable Development Goals and came up with their own
ideas on how they could contribute to them through volunteering. For example, they linked
Zero Hunger (Goal 2) to helping with food distribution, Quality Education (Goal 4) to
tutoring children in after-school learning centres, and Clean Water and Sanitation (Goal 6)
to taking part in activities that protect water and the environment.

Students also recognised how their future professions can become a valuable resource for
volunteering – for example, how a student studying to become an electrician could
contribute their skills as a volunteer to the modernisation of a local kindergarten.

The session showed that contributing to global goals does not always require big actions.
Volunteering can start locally, with our own skills, interests and ideas – and even small
contributions can make a difference in our communities.
