As part of the celebrations for the International Volunteer Year in Poland, the launch of the International Volunteer Year Initiatives Fund has been announced!
The Fund has a total budget of PLN 2.5 million (approximately €590,000) for the activities of non-governmental organisations related to the development and promotion of volunteering and the organisation of volunteering initiatives in local communities.

The National Freedom Institute – Centre for Civil Society Development, which is also the IYV 2026 focal point in Poland, is the competition operator and is tasked with selecting four operators to distribute small grants. For the purposes of the call for applications, Poland has been divided into four macro-regions. Each of these will have its own operator.

As emphasised by Jan Grabiec, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and Chair of the Public Benefit Committee, the launch of the Fund provides support for thousands of people who, every day, selflessly transform their immediate surroundings. “We want to give a boost to local communities in every corner of Poland, because it is precisely grassroots activity and civic engagement that form the foundation of a strong, modern state,” he adds.

As Michał Braun, Director of NIW-CRSO, points out, at least 400 non-governmental organisations from across the country will receive small grants of between 3,000 and 5,000 zlotys for grassroots initiatives promoting volunteering and social engagement.
