Under the auspices of the International Volunteers Year, initiated by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a series of events dedicated to the development of international cooperation in volunteerism were held at UN Headquarters in New York. The initiative was initiated by the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of Azerbaijan's Chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the CICA Secretariat, and the UN Volunteers (UNV) programme.

The events included the opening of a photo exhibition, "Volunteering in CICA Member States," an international panel discussion, "Best Practices of Volunteering in CICA Member States," and the presentation of an online publication dedicated to the best practices in developing volunteerism in CICA countries.

The discussion focused on Kazakhstan's experience in developing the volunteer movement. UN representatives highly praised the national volunteer tracking system, as well as the consistent state policy to promote volunteerism both domestically and internationally.

Representatives of the UN, CICA member states, and international experts participated in the discussion. They shared successful practices in developing volunteerism, youth participation, and international cooperation in this area.

Holding the event at UN headquarters further confirmed Kazakhstan's recognition of its contribution to advancing the global volunteering agenda and strengthening international cooperation for sustainable development.
