Neuropedagogical support for the child in the digital age
Neuropedagogical Support for Preschool Children in Digital Environments
Digital technologies become part of children’s everyday lives from an early age, influencing their attention, emotional responses and development of self-regulation skills. Understanding age-related patterns of brain development, recognising signs of digital overload early and applying appropriate teaching approaches help create a safe and balanced digital environment for preschool children.
Yuliia Semeniako, Associate Professor at Berdiansk State Pedagogical University, will explore the neuropedagogical foundations of young children’s interaction with digital technologies. Particular attention will be given to the neurobiological mechanisms underlying digital addiction, international recommendations and Ukraine’s legal and regulatory framework governing children’s digital environments.
The webinar will examine behavioural, emotional and cognitive signs of digital overload, including difficulties shifting attention, reactions to screen-time limits and changes in children’s everyday behaviour. Participants will explore educational approaches to a gentle “digital detox”, gradually managing digital device use, organising alternative play activities and developing cognitive control, while taking preschool children’s individual needs and developmental stages into account.
We invite early childhood educators, teachers, psychologists, students in education programmes and everyone interested in better understanding the influence of digital technologies on children’s development and applying neuropedagogical approaches in early childhood education to join the webinar.
The webinar is being organised within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
