At the initiative of President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, 2026 has been declared the International Volunteers Year for Sustainable Development by the UN. Throughout the year, environmental, social, and charitable events are held around the world to develop civic engagement and promote a culture of volunteerism.

The Kostanay region has also actively joined this initiative. Since the beginning of the year, 774 volunteer events have been held in the region.

One of the most active organizations in the region is the environmental club "Neco," founded in 2018 in Kostanay. The youth volunteer search and rescue team "Region-10" is also widely known in the region; its members search for missing persons and provide assistance in emergency situations. The "Tumar" association for people with hemophilia is also among the exemplary organizations.

In total, 12,022 volunteers and 334 non-profit organizations implementing social, environmental, and educational projects operate in the region.
