Understanding and Supporting Children through Educational Assessment

Educational assessment helps early childhood educators better understand children’s individual developmental characteristics, identify their learning needs and plan appropriate support. Systematic observation, analysis of findings and professional reflection provide a foundation for informed teaching decisions and improvements to educational practice in early childhood settings.

Olena Khartman, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, from the G. S. Kostiuk Institute of Psychology of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, will present an educational assessment framework for early childhood educators, outlining its purpose, core principles and practical applications. Particular attention will be given to using findings from classroom observations to identify children’s individual needs, plan learning interactions and support educators’ professional development.

The webinar will examine ways to organise educational assessment, record and analyse observations, formulate questions about children’s development and identify appropriate teaching responses. Participants will explore how assessment findings can inform adjustments to educational practice, help evaluate the effectiveness of teaching decisions and develop professional reflection skills.

We invite preschool teachers, early childhood educators, curriculum specialists, psychologists, early childhood setting leaders and everyone interested in improving educational assessment and supporting children’s individual development more effectively to join the webinar.

The webinar is being organised within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
