Senegal marked a significant milestone in its national volunteer agenda with marking the launch of the International Year of Volunteers (IVY) 2026, on 5 December 2025 during the International Volunteer Day celebration at the National Theatre. This landmark moment, organized under the high patronage of the State, brought together institutions, volunteer organizations, and partners committed to strengthening the role of volunteerism in national development.

The launch highlighted Senegal’s ambition to position volunteerism as a driving force for civic transformation, social cohesion, and socio-economic progress, reinforcing the growing momentum of structured and inclusive volunteer initiatives across the country.

With 528 attendees at the institutional IVD celebration, the IVY launch served as a unifying platform to reaffirm national and international collaboration. It also amplified visibility for volunteerism through strong media coverage, youth engagement, and coordinated messaging across social networks and partner institutions.

The IVY 2026 launch sets the stage for a year of expanded volunteer action, deeper partnerships, and nationwide mobilization—underscoring Senegal’s leadership in championing volunteerism as a catalyst for sustainable development.
