Social Volunteering Fair 2026
As part of the International Volunteer Year for Sustainable Development 2026, Luxembourg organized the first Social Volunteering Fair on 26 September 2026 at neimënster in Luxembourg City.
The Fair featured 40 associations working across social, family, therapeutic, and intercultural fields. It created a space for citizens to learn about volunteering opportunities, meet organizations directly, and explore long-term ways to contribute to their communities.
The program included interactive sessions on the diversity and value of volunteering in Luxembourg; volunteering by persons with disabilities; volunteering by and for older people; and volunteering and civic participation in local communities. Max Hahn, Minister for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees, addressed participants.
The event was free and open to all, with no prior registration required. To support inclusion, the venue was accessible to people with reduced mobility; sessions in Luxembourgish included simultaneous interpretation into French and English, as well as sign-language interpretation. Visitors were also encouraged to create a volunteer profile on benevolat.lu to explore available opportunities and connect with associations.
The Fair raised awareness of the social value of volunteering and supported direct contact between associations and people interested in volunteering.
