VOLUNTARIARTE 2026, ARTS AND VOLUNTEERING FAIR, is an annual event to empower volunteering in Mexico. It is an open call to gather more than 25 NGOs at SCENIC GARDEN, a spectacular setting at Chapultepec Park in the heart of Mexico City. YZ PROYECTOS DE DESARROLLO, a non-profit organization working with young volunteers and institutional alliances, has created the VOLUNTARIARTE concept, to spread the benefits of being permanent volunteers for Mexico.
As 2026 was proclaimed the INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER YEAR by the UN, we invited this year some special people to cut the ribbon and declare the opening of this fair to celebrate all year long this special opportunity for Volunteering. Besides Pablo Bayas, UN VOLUNTEERS REPRESENTATIVE FOR MEXICO,
we had people invited from Morocco, Italy, and France embassies in Mexico to make the official start for the activities. The official photo of that moment shows those special invitees and volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of others in need.
That day we had a whole program that ran from 10:30 am till 19 hrs in two settings:
- THE VOLUNTEERING FAIR is a wonderful space with 25 tents set into an outdoor natural garden. Each one of the NGO had a motivational activity to show the way they make a difference in the lives of others. Health, rescue response, housing and emergency reconstruction, community reintegration, international volunteering travels, community development, women commitment to improve living capacities, environmental protection, antidrugs youth prevention, and most important: activities to bring disabilities under the spotlight: blind games... wheelchairs races and safety practices... use of sensory vests so that deaf or hard-of-hearing people can feel the music and many fun around!
THE ART CULTURAL PROGRAM on the same day.
FUNDACION TONATIUH GOMEZ was in charge of the call and prepared a unique, unforgettable art experience. In parallel, attached to the program with volunteering actions, we had 14 different performances all by volunteers of different ages: a group of children froman indigenous community playing instruments with wonderful melodies... local folkloric dancers... classical dancers and many more young performers showing their talent and skills filled the program for almost 6 hours. The day was full of activities and funny moments, like the "Flash mob" dancing JERUSALEMA song, an idea of the "WORLD HOSPITAL CLOWNS" group, with contagious enthusiasm all day long.
THE SCENIC GARDEN is a venue belonging to the National Institute of Fine Arts, and we are allowed to use the facilities at no cost, thus helping to adjust a more accessible budget for volunteering actions.
- Here final numbers we reached:
- 696 registered visitors.
- 169 young volunteers at the fair.
- 270 performers and artists with their families.
- 1,150 people who attend both the volunteer fair and the arts program.
This is only the beginning!
VOLUNTARIARTE 2026, FERIA DE ARTE Y VOLUNTARIADO, es un evento anual para impulsar el voluntariado en México. Es una convocatoria abierta que reúne a más de 25 organizaciones de la sociedad civil en el JARDÍN ESCÉNICO, un escenario espectacular en el Parque Chapultepec, en el corazón de la Ciudad de México. YZ PROYECTOS DE DESARROLLO, una organización sin fines de lucro que trabaja con jóvenes voluntarios y alianzas institucionales, creó el concepto VOLUNTARIARTE para difundir los beneficios de ser voluntarios permanentes por México.
Dado que 2026 fue proclamado por la ONU como el AÑO INTERNACIONAL DEL VOLUNTARIADO, este año invitamos a personas especiales para cortar el listón y declarar inaugurada esta feria que celebra durante todo el año esta gran oportunidad para el voluntariado. Además de Pablo Bayas, Coordinador País de Voluntarios ONU en México, contamos con invitados de las embajadas de Marruecos, Italia y Francia en México para dar inicio oficial a las actividades. La foto oficial de ese momento muestra a los invitados especiales y a voluntarios que desean marcar una diferencia en la vida de quienes más lo necesitan.
Ese día tuvimos un programa completo que se desarrolló de 10:30 a 19:00 horas en dos espacios:
LA FERIA DEL VOLUNTARIADO es un espacio maravilloso con 25 carpas instaladas en un jardín natural al aire libre. Cada una de las organizaciones presentó una actividad motivacional para mostrar cómo marcan una diferencia en la vida de otros. Salud, respuesta de rescate, vivienda y reconstrucción en emergencias, reintegración comunitaria, viajes de voluntariado internacional, desarrollo comunitario, compromiso de mujeres para mejorar capacidades de vida, protección ambiental, prevención juvenil contra drogas y, lo más importante, actividades que colocan la discapacidad en el centro: juegos para personas ciegas… carreras en silla de ruedas y prácticas de seguridad… uso de chalecos sensoriales para que personas sordas o con dificultades auditivas puedan “sentir” la música y mucha diversión alrededor.
EL PROGRAMA ARTÍSTICO Y CULTURAL se desarrolló el mismo día.
La FUNDACIÓN TONATIUH GÓMEZ estuvo a cargo de la convocatoria y preparación de una experiencia artística única e inolvidable. En paralelo, y vinculado al programa de acciones de voluntariado, tuvimos 14 presentaciones diferentes, todas realizadas por voluntarios de distintas edades: un grupo de niños de una comunidad indígena interpretando melodías maravillosas… bailarines folklóricos locales… bailarines clásicos y muchos más jóvenes artistas mostrando su talento y habilidades, llenando casi 6 horas de programación. El día estuvo lleno de actividades y momentos divertidos, como el “flash mob” bailando la canción JERUSALEMA, una iniciativa del grupo “PAYASOS DE HOSPITAL DEL MUNDO”, con un entusiasmo contagioso durante toda la jornada.
EL JARDÍN ESCÉNICO es un espacio perteneciente al Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, y se nos permite utilizar sus instalaciones sin costo, lo que facilita ajustar un presupuesto más accesible para las acciones de voluntariado.
Aquí las cifras finales alcanzadas:
696 visitantes registrados.
169 jóvenes voluntarios en la feria.
270 artistas y performers con sus familias.
1,150 personas que asistieron tanto a la feria del voluntariado como al programa artístico.
