What are we really designing in volunteering? Are we only planning the flow of an event, or are we also shaping meaningful participation, a safe volunteer experience, and social impact together? An effective volunteer activity requires more than good intentions. It calls for a holistic approach that integrates needs analysis, role design, motivation, learning, and evaluation.
The International Labour Association (ILA) has strong experience in this field through its systematic, impact-oriented models for designing volunteer programmes. Mehmet Altunbaş, Programme Manager at ILA, will present a comprehensive framework for structuring volunteer activities not as spontaneous efforts but as the result of a conscious, well-planned design process.

Throughout the webinar, participants will explore needs and context analysis, the design of volunteer roles and participant profiles, motivation and volunteer experience, event architecture including flow, format, and participation mechanisms, support systems for safe participation, and approaches to impact measurement and continuous improvement, all supported by practical examples.

This webinar offers a strong design guide for anyone who wants to make volunteer activities more meaningful, effective, and sustainable. Reserve your place now to join.
The event will be held as an online webinar within the framework of the 2026 International Year of Volunteers. It is open to everyone and is completely free, including a certificate of participation.
