Volunteer Support for the Education of Women and Young Girls: From Local Solidarity to Equal Opportunity
Strengthening Equal Opportunities in Young Women’s Education through Volunteering
Ensuring equal opportunities for young women throughout their educational journey requires both access to education and support in overcoming the social and structural barriers they face during their studies. Combined with mentoring, guidance and strong solidarity networks, scholarships can make a significant contribution to helping young women continue their education and shape their futures.
Meryem Salman, Chair of the Board of the Buldan Education and Solidarity Foundation, will draw on the foundation’s experience to discuss the often unseen barriers young women face in education and the role of volunteering in overcoming them. The webinar will explore Buldan Foundation’s volunteering model, which integrates scholarships with mentoring, guidance and social support, and examine how local solidarity contributes to equal opportunities.
Through practical examples, the webinar will address the challenges young women face after accessing education, the roles volunteers can play beyond financial support, and the importance of mentoring relationships and role models. It will also explore approaches that enable young women receiving support to become active members of volunteering and solidarity networks over time.
We invite everyone interested in strengthening equal educational opportunities for women and girls, exploring volunteer support models, and contributing to the development of local solidarity networks to join this webinar.
The webinar is being organized within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
