The impact of volunteer support in combating deep poverty is not limited to meeting immediate needs. Building a volunteering approach that respects rights, supports empowerment, and creates sustainable relationships in the field requires rethinking the role, belonging, and forms of participation of volunteers.

Melek Bahat, Chairperson of Açık Alan Association, and Dr. Önder Uçar, Research and Advocacy Coordinator, will discuss the association’s volunteering experience in the field of deep poverty and its evolving approach over time.

The webinar will explore Açık Alan Association’s changing volunteering process, volunteer stories that emerged through this process, and how volunteers can move beyond being support providers to becoming participants who build relationships and transform through the experience. It will also address how field relationships, volunteer experiences, and a sense of belonging contribute to long-term and meaningful participation.

We invite everyone who wants to approach volunteer support in combating deep poverty through a more rights-based, sustainable, and empowering framework to join this webinar.
The webinar is being organised within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
