Taking part in science and technology as a volunteer can be a powerful way to increase young people’s participation in STEM—especially that of girls—and to reduce inequality of opportunity. The long-standing volunteering programmes of the Science Heroes Association offer effective models that help transform access barriers in STEM fields.

Aylin Yıldırım Tayhan, Senior Programme Coordinator at the Science Heroes Association, will provide a broad perspective on the social impact of STEM volunteering, the power of becoming a role model, the personal benefits of volunteering, and the importance of volunteer support in building a sustainable STEM ecosystem. This webinar will also offer a valuable opportunity to explore, through concrete examples, how volunteer mentoring, skills development, and networking can positively influence young people.

We invite everyone who wants to contribute to social transformation through science and technology, inspire future generations, and support the creation of an accessible STEM ecosystem. Apply now to join.

The webinar will be held as part of the International Volunteer Day activities, organised by the National Volunteering Committee (UGK) via the ILA Talks mobile application.
The event is free of charge, and participants will receive Turkish-English certificates of participation at the end of the session.
