Strengthening young people’s participation in volunteering is not only about encouraging them to take part in activities; it is also about supporting their voices, sense of responsibility, and sense of belonging throughout the process. Peer-based volunteering approaches offer a powerful model in which young people learn from one another, share experiences, and take part in decision-making together.

Emre İpekyüz from the Bir Bulut Olsam Association will discuss youth volunteering and participation, focusing on peer-based volunteering approaches and the volunteer journeys of young people.

The webinar will explore the current factors that attract young people to volunteering, as well as those that may deter them from participating. It will also address how peer-based volunteering can be structured, how the volunteer journey from first contact and orientation to taking responsibility can be designed, and how peer support can strengthen active participation and belonging. Good practices in youth volunteering and lessons learned from them will also be discussed using concrete examples.

We invite everyone who wants to support young people’s more active participation in volunteering, strengthen peer solidarity, and develop sustainable models for youth volunteering to join this webinar.

The webinar is being organised within the scope of the International Volunteer Year (IVY). It is free of charge, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
