The Civil Society Assembly is a pioneering initiative of the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council (PVCC), providing a unique platform that ‘gives voice’ to volunteer-involving organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus. The primary objective of every Assembly is to safeguard a more enabling environment that promotes the development of organisations and volunteering in general.
At the annual Assemblies, 56 representatives from various NGOs serving in the role of "Members of Parliament", can present recommendations and proposals or highlight any challenges that hinder the effective functioning of organised civil society and volunteering.
The Assembly follows the procedures of the Plenary of the House of Representatives and is governed by internal Rules of Procedure.

The President of the House of Representatives, who chairs the Assemblies, as well as government officials attending the event, have the opportunity to engage with NGOs, thereby fostering effective dialogue.
A highlight of this year's Assembly (2026) will be the presentation of the Declaration for the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026.
