Anna Barford, Kate Brockie, Niall O’Higgins, Emiliya Asadova
Duration
1hr 15 Minutes
Summary

The webinar aims to disseminate the recently published paper "Volunteering, Unpaid Care Work and Gender in Lower-Income Countries" as well as highlight the critical yet undervalued roles of unpaid care and volunteer work in societal well-being and economic development, with a focus on the gender disparities that see women disproportionately burdened with unpaid care work while men dominate formal volunteering roles. Drawing on key findings from a comprehensive report, the session will explore global patterns, challenges posed by technological, demographic, and climate shifts, and case studies like Bangladesh, where gendered divisions of labor are stark. The webinar will serve as a platform to share insights, foster dialogue among stakeholders, and discuss actionable strategies to recognize and address these inequities through targeted policies.
