The UN General Assembly proclaimed 2026 as the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026) through Resolution A/RES/78/127, adopted on December 21, 2023.

The year aims to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by recognizing and integrating volunteerism into national development plans, fostering inclusive policies, and measuring volunteer impact, with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) coordinating the global effort.
